Bunty was very prompt with replies and suggestions. He fully understood that our trip was to be independent in that we had a route and knew what we wished to see and do. The car and driver was of great importance to us as one traveller has a disability and this was a first visit to India. We arranged pick up from Delhi airport on 3 November, keeping our driver for sightseeing until the airport drop on 6 November for a flight to Varanasi. It was a joy to meet our driver Deepak at Delhi airport. He could not have been more professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful during our first few days. He even recommended a tuk tuk driver in Varanasi to get us started. As arranged before our departure, we met up with Deepak again when he picked us up from the overnight train in Agra on 10 November. Once more everything was just right; even ensuring that a wheelchair would be available if walking at Taj Mahal became too difficult. After a one night stay in Agra, Deepak drove us to Jaipur, via Fatepur Sikri, for a two night stay. Throughout our time with Deepak he ensured we saw everything we had planned and was always keen to provide extra insight and information into his country. He also recommended some great places to eat. Our comfort and safety was clearly very important to him. We did get a real nice aircon car for a very okay price and he is always responding on any question you have. He was right on time to pick us up, and we found his driving to be very smooth, safe, and comfortable, especially when compared to the craziness of Delhi traffic! He was very quiet and respectful, but full of information, and suggestions when called upon. His English was very good, and we had no trouble understanding each other at all. We made a well timed rest/lunch stop at a rather expensive, very touristy place on the way to Agra. I suppose it would have suited the majority of your clients, but my friend and I would have preffered something less expensive, more Indian, and less touristy. We went past many dhabas which looked more like our kind of place. But this is a very minor point, and I know we only have ourselves to blame, as Kuldeep was very responsive to our other requests. We had originally planned to see Fatepur Sikri on Day Two, but Kuldeep suggested visiting on the way to Agra instead,and this turned out to be a wonderful change of plans,with everything fitting in perfectly time-wise. My friend was very happy with his return journey to Delhi airport the next day,and was relieved to not have to deal with navigating his way by himself. So, I contacted Bunty and with impeccable speed he had me an itinerary and a properly costed quotation - so we all knew where we stood from day one. What really helped get us going was Bobby's profound interest and passion for cricket and before we even got to the car at Delhi Airport I was happily reminding him of England's 4-0 thrashing of India a few weeks earlier! When he told us that he had become a dad we were almost as excited as he was. When we said he should go home to be with his family he was having none of it and insisted that he completed the tour with us. We decided with our limited 13 day timeline we would need a private driver to see the most in the quickest time and maintain flexibility. We found India Private Driver online and requested intinerary and quote from the service after also checking with alternative services. We opted for a tour of Rajasthan from Delhi travelling down to Ahmadabad where we were dropped off. This was a long trip and at all times, Manu was reliable, patient and drove safely. He also went the extra mile to locate points of interest that were off the beaten track and not often visited by tourists and therefore were not easy to locate. In addition, he also organised hotels in a couple of the places we had not arranged accommodation which were all excellent. I could go on and on about the small things such as the fact he was never, ever late, and gave us many tips to avoid hassles in the towns, and so on, but I think these things should be experienced first hand. He confirmed my arrival details with me, answered all my questions (again, very quickly) and gave me the information on my driver and where he would meet me. My driver was waiting for me right outside the departures area with a sign with my name, and got me to the car and we were on the road! I felt safe along the whole trip and it was an amazing journey. Anil, my driver, arranged for a guide in Agra, who was fabulous in showing me the sights. Anil even drove me around part of Delhi when I returned, making sure I got to my hotel that evening. We found out about Bunty through online references (India Mike). We had compared services and prices from other companies as well, but the immediate response and professionalism from Bunty was what set him apart from the others. We planned our schedule with Bunty before hand (Delhi-Agra-Delhi) but when we got to Agra, decided to spend an extra day. Also decided to extend our trip by one day. No problems at all. Driving was very good (given the chaotic roads), sight-seeing was also very good with commentary from Avtar. Avtar also told us what is an average price to pay for tour guides, etc... Avtar found us a guide at one of the attractions and clearly told the guide "not to mess with us" by taking us to other places, forcing us to buy things, etc... We wanted to book a driver, who drives carefully and respects the traffic rules and on the top of all that, knows the country and is friendly towards the guests – not at all an easy bunch of demands indeed! All Correspondence and services, which were to be agreed was exchanged in a very speedy manner and we got all of our demands fulfilled in return! With Avtar Kumar our expectations were more than filled. Avtar is a very careful driver; he respects the traffic rules (which seem with most of the people driving not to be the case in India…) and has an defensive style of driving. He also knows a lot of the history of different cities and has a wide number of good restaurants in mind, where we could make a stop during the quite long transfers we had in between of our travel destinations. With the assistance of Avtar we could even stand out the roads, which were partially in quite bad condition after the intensive monsoon season of last year. Our route consisted of Delhi, Barathpur, Agra (Taj Mahal), nature reserve (tiger) Ranthambore in Sawai Modhpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Nimaj, Udaipur, from where we flew further to Kerala after two interesting, demanding and exhausting weeks, which we could stand out with the friendly and attentive assistance of Avtar Kumar! This was my first trip to India and I can't imagine seeing India any other way than having a private driver. Firstly, your suggestions as to where to go and the time-line (it would take) of each place were so very very helpful in planning our trip. Also I appreciated the flexibility that our driver had when we made changes. Your speed of implementation before and during our trip in terms of communication was extraordinary. Our driver Deepak was great. Firstly his driving is to be commended. Driving in India is an experience in itself, and I felt confident that we were in good hands at all times with Deepak at the wheel. As I started my process of planning my short 6 day Golden Triangle tour, Bunty promptly sent me several suggested itineraries and price guidelines. I choose to book my own hotel/homestays, as I wanted to use accommodations that, again, had been recommended to me. (and ultimately, I'd have no one to blame but myself if they were unsatisfactory). I was constantly amazed at his ability to remain unfazed by the worst of India’s driving (by others). I can only recall a single short beep of the car horn on one occasion, he always remained cool and calm in all conditions. Even on the execrable roads of Shekhawati! He also has the best dry sense of humour, a boon in sometimes difficult driving conditions. He became a friend after the first few days and we looked to him to provide all the additional background and detail that is just found in any guide books. He constantly suggested additional side excursions to see extraordinary sights, temples, forts and the interesting. Nothing he suggested was a time waster. This insider info only comes from knowing and travelling the miles over many years. I particularly liked the sedate driving style, I can’t recall ever seeing the speedo showing over 80 k’s an hour! We also appreciated the fact Chamman found time to clean the car, inside and out, every morning and that room always seemed to be found for our growing assemblage of parcels and the like. Chamman also knew when we needed a few hours to quietly chill out and when we all needed to talk about all we had seen. His knowledge of exactly where and when to find a perfect pitstop for chai, snacks and a decent washroom break was uncanny. All in all, Chamman made our three week drive a perfect introduction to Rajasthan, so much so, that we have already commenced planning another more far reaching trip next year. My wife and myself travelled Rajastan with Amit for 17 days in January/February 2011 and we had a fantastic time! Amit and Bunty really went out of their way to make our honeymoon a special one. This was my second visit to India and having a private driver makes all the difference in the world. Being able to drive to temples and visit restaurants and attractions a little off the tourist map was fantastic. The hotels Bunty booked for us (3 and 4 stars) we're all very clean and included breakfast. The viewing on monuments such as the Taj Mahal and the forts in Rajastan, the camel and tiger safaris, and the temples were unique and we'll remember them for the rest of our lives. While in Udiapur I had a little bit of a medical issue, Amit woke up at 4:30am drove us to the hospital and waited with my wife until I was discharged. Amit is a true friend. He's very honest and tells you exactly how you should bargain, prices you should expect to pay and more. After traveling with India Private Driver/India Driver Tours we spent another week traveling on our own and we can say it wasn't even remotely as enjoyable as having a driver. Our driver Anil was waiting for us at the airport upon arrival, despite our flight having been delayed for an hour. A safe driver is absolutely necessary on the chaotic streets of India. In Anil's car we felt absolutely safe and had a very smooth ride in his car. Besides his impeccable driving skills, Anil went above and beyond what was necessary from answering any questions we had, to driving from 9am-3am at one point, and proved to be a great companion on the trip. For convenience, we wanted to travel with a private driver. Fortunately, I stumbled across recommendations for "Satvinder Singh (also known as Bunty Singh) who trades as India Private Driver". Thank you Bunty, we are so glad we found you! Prior to even making a booking with Bunty I felt very comfortable; he seemed very sincere, genuine and honest and eagre to deliver a high quality service to his customers. Emails were answered promptly and questions were answered clearly. Most importantly, his quoted price clearly stated inclusions (eg: A/C vehicle (specified type), driver (plus driver's allowance for accommodation and meals), border taxes, road tolls, parking and petrol). It is very important to know there are no "hidden extras"! From what I have read, Bunty is not the cheapest, but he is certainly not the most expensive either! As the saying goes "you get what you pay for"! We designed our own Itinerary and booked all accommodation separately (we wanted to stay at specific hotels). For trips starting in Delhi, Bunty doesn't require an "up front" deposit. Our trip started in Udaipur (some 700km from Delhi) so he asked us to send a deposit (one quarter of total price) 4-6 weeks before departure. We happily obliged (very easy process with Western Union) and thought this most reasonable. Immediately Bunty received the deposit he acknowledged receipt (nice to know it hadn't disappeared into the ether)! The day before our trip commenced, Amit (our driver and also Bunty's brother) phoned our Udaipur hotel to confirm he would pick us up the following morning at "x" time. What service! It also meant a restful nights sleep, knowing we would be collected, as intended, the following morning. Amit arrived punctually; actually he was early (all part of the prompt service). We were met with warm welcoming smiles and from the first hand-shake we felt confident we were in safe hands and that we were going to have a great trip. Amit was our driver for 19 days and he was a pleasure to travel with (it felt like we were travelling with a close friend rather than a "driver" / "customer" relationship). Travelling days were generally 3-4 hours but the time passed quickly as we were always engrossed in conversation. In cities where we stayed multiple days, Amit always assured us that he was available for us to call on him at any time. Amit was always punctual and the car was always spotlessly clean (there were a couple of minor mechanical issues (couldn't have been avoided) and we happily assisted Amit to ensure he got them resolved). When travelling, we are not avid shopper; Amit respected our wishes that we didn't want to visit every shopping emporium along the way. There were a couple of cities where we wanted to make specific purchases and Amit happily assisted with these transactions. We enjoyed several enjoyable meals together; though respecting Amit possibly didn't want to eat with us every single night! We felt safe with Amit's driving ability; he certainly navigated the chaos of busy Indian cities with ease! But I fired off a query, and received a very quick, clear and useful response within a day. Just a couple more emails, and Bunty had a complete itinerary worked out that covered all the things I wanted to see, as well as some helpful suggestions about other local attractions that could be easily included. I thought I'd double-check Bunty's quote by seeing how cheaply I could book the same itinerary myself, but after comparing quoted hotel prices on the Internet for three or four places, and struggling with the complexity of Indian train timetables, I soon realised Bunty's prices were staggeringly better than reasonable. Our driver, Amit, was always on time, always attentive to our needs, always ready to adjust the schedule if some sight was really interesting and we wanted to spend more time in a palace, and always full of helpful advice on where to eat and how to handle Indian social niceties such as baksheesh. I've taken an overseas holiday every year for the past ten years in countries all over Asia and Africa, but my holiday in India with Bunty was easily the best value of them all. We found Bunty from the Web with many glowing client references and contacted him by email. He replied immediately and suggested an 8 day itinerary. He was very patient despite our frequently changed plans and replied promptly to all our email requests with excellent English. He was able to suggest alternative hotels when our choice was unavailable - they proved equally fantastic.  Bunty organised his colleague Kumud to drive us. He was brilliant, with his knowledge of the area second to none. He was courteous, patient and flexible, and above all his driving was safe on the manic Indian roads. Kumud collected us from the airport in a 9 seater mini bus which was very spacious and comfortable for six travellers plus luggage. We had a 'Bus Boy' at all times who looked after our possessions whilst we were away from the bus during the trip, and replenished our ice box with drinks as necessary. Kumud got us to all the major sites and cities with ease and organised knowledgeable local guides for us on arrival.  Changes to our travel arrangements on our return North from Kerala, required a rapid transfer time to the International Terminal. However we were extremely happy with Manu, the driver that Bunty organised for us, and it was with a tear in our eye that we farewelled Manu at the conclusion of the trip as he had become not only a driver but companion and advisor. In Bangalore, the drivers were all very impatient, and they would constantly speed up and slow down to intimidate slow vehicles to move aside. When we got to Delhi, the cab ride to our hotel was driven so fast that it felt like it might tip over on turns, and the driver was so absent minded he kept almost running into things. He also could not find our hotel, even though we gave him an address, and started yelling at us. So when Amit picked us up the next morning, it was very relieving. He drives very steady and safe, but knows how to get around obstacles when they come. That might not seem important, but on those long trips, it means a lot to have a good driver that is skilled enough that you can trust their driving. The ride was relaxing, and we could enjoy the sights along the way.  But Amit was not just our driver. He helped out in many ways along the way. We had not booked hotels along the way, and so he helped us find good hotels to stay at. He used contacts throughout the trip to make suggestion that were always very helpful to us. When we got to public attractions, he warned us about the guides and other ways we might get taken advantage. We had already learned about many of these things from our stay in Bengaluru, where a guide had already taken advantage of our time and money, but Amit was the first person to actually warn us about them.  Everything about the trip went very well, and we really owe Amit our greatest appreciation. Also, he is very knowlegeable and could give us good information regarding the various places we visited. Especially on our trip from Jodhpur to Udaipur, he recommended to visit 2 places that we had not put on our agenda (Ranakpur temple & Kumbalgarh fort) and it was very much worth it. Everything was easy for him and with him, and we called him the 'no problem man' as everything was 'no problem' for him! The Taj Mahal was of course beautiful, but what really made the sudden journey and our whole experience of India alight and transcendent was, strange to say, hurtling through dangerously crowded towns and obstacle-filled country roads as if we were guided by nothing less than pure and enveloping intent.  For this to be true, I know that it must have been due to a strong combination of Bunty's uncommon driving skill, unforced sureness and clued-in personal philosophy. No nicer or more suitable companion/guide can be found, if you wish to go into the unknown and emerge from it as safely as possible, and as gratefully as possible too.  Bunty made it possible for me to enjoy India and remember it in a way that I could not have done otherwise. He helped me to bring away not just memories but also a sense of a trip well done, and of having met a remarkable person who is truly well-fitted for his environment and his work.
